Jesus Youth Canada National Conference

Linked in Christ

Jesus Youth Canada National Conference

The Linked in Christ Jesus Youth (JY) Canada National Conference was a profound time of renewal in faith, reconnection with fellow Jesus Youth members from across the nation, and a joyful celebration. This year’s event marked the largest national gathering in JY Canada’s history, with nearly 1,000 participants — including families, youth, and children. Comparatively, the previous national conference in 2014 had 600 attendees from four provinces, but in 2024, participants hailed from all 10 provinces, highlighting the movement’s growth over the past two decades.

Story Behind Logo

The theme, “One Body in Christ” (1 Cor 12, Rom 12:5), focused on building relationships with God and one another. The conference logo, designed by Snal CA, featured stacked stones reminiscent of First Nations Inukshuks, symbolizing guidance and solidarity. These stones, used by the Inuit for centuries, served as a fitting symbol of how the Jesus Youth movement stands as a signpost of faith, marking where we have been and guiding where we are headed. The stones also symbolize Christ as our cornerstone, anchoring us in our mission and unity.

Impact Sessions and Unprogrammed Experiences

For the first time, the conference incorporated a live-in experience, with Impact Sessions, Evening Rallies, and Unprogrammed Experiences. Though there were some unexpected challenges, the conference highlighted how God’s grace is made perfect in our weakness (2 Cor 12:9-10). Christ’s undeniable presence permeated throughout the event, and the participants’ feedback revealed the conference’s profound impact on their spiritual lives.

Mountain-Moving Rallies

A highlight for many was the Evening Prayer Rallies, led by All4Him band, Hector from Rexband, and Timson from Acts of the Apostles, which elevated the praise and worship sessions. These rallies were filled with powerful Eucharistic adoration, with numerous participants experiencing healing and an outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Almost all attendees had a profound encounter with Christ on the second day during the Prayer Ministry. Other music bands supported the conference: the Ontario Music Ministry, Seraphim, and Throneway. Connecting Generations

The conference was designed to engage all ages and life stages, with dedicated streams for Families, Youth, Teens, Pre-teens, and Kids. Babysitting services allowed young parents to participate fully. The scenic McMaster University campus provided a beautiful backdrop, with venues such as the Burridge Gym and other facilities offering ample space for both personal reflection and community connection.

Collaborative Planning Across Canada

We drew inspiration from Jesus Youth US, Australia, India and Ireland which had hosted similar National Conferences. Key JY leaders, including Manoj Sunny, Midhun, and Chev. Dr. Edward, Dr. Sindhu, and George Devassy provided valuable guidance during the planning process. This event also marked a significant collaboration with Catholic Christian Outreach (CCO), strengthening the relationship between the two movements. We also had volunteers from AFCM ministries, Encounter.

Special Blessings: St. Andre’s Relic Tour

The conference was blessed by the presence of the major relic of St. Andre, the patron saint of the event, who inspired participants throughout the conference. His relic, which toured Canada leading up to the event, brought local JYs together in prayer and reflection, fostering a deeper sense of unity and intercession.

Anchored in the Eucharist

The conference began and ended with the Eucharist, and the presence of Christ in the Eucharistic Chamber throughout the event was a profound blessing. With three Bishops, nine priests, and four religious sisters present, many participants encountered the mercy of Christ through the sacrament of reconciliation and the healing power of Eucharistic adoration. The Linked in Christ confessional booth provided a space for spiritual renewal, while several attendees experienced physical and spiritual healing.

Lasting Memories and Future Hope

The Linked in Christ conference has left participants with vivid and lasting memories — moments of fun, fellowship, and faith that will resonate for years to come. For many, this was a transformative experience that deepened their relationship with Christ and with each other. The event also serves as a foundation for the 25th-anniversary celebrations in 2027.

Shalom Media Coverage

For the first time, Shalom Media provided professional coverage of the conference, particularly the evening rallies. This documentation serves as a memorial of this significant event and will be a valuable resource for future conferences in Canada and beyond.

As we continue on as Pilgrims of Hope (the theme of the 2025 Jubilee Year), may we look to Our Lady of Hope, journeying linked in Christ, drawing many more souls into this blessed relationship as we look forward to the 25-year jubilee of Jesus Youth Canada in 2027.
