I don’t appreciate it when someone tells me I can’t do something. After being rejected from the University of Notre Dame during my senior year of high school, I was determined to do whatever was necessary to eventually transfer to my dream school. And I did. After spending a wonderful freshman year at Holy Cross College, I was admitted to Notre Dame as a sophomore transfer.
Jesus Youth orchestrated four distinct retreats tailored for couples in Canada a live-in retreat catering to 23 couples hailing from Western Canada, and two non-residential retreats in Humboldt (attended by 23 couples) and North Battleford (attended by 11 couples), representing couples from two local parishes in Saskatchewan.
The weekend on November 11-12 2023, at the Regina Mundi Renewal Centre in Ontario, brought together coordinators and key leaders from 7 regions across Jesus Youth Canada. They gathered for a weekend of prayer, discussion, planning for the future and fellowship.
March for Life is an event organized by the Campaign Life Coalition every year. This was 26th Year of the event. Jesus Youth heeded to the need for supporting life and voice against the culture of death.
Over 60 Jesus Youth pilgrims from different parts of Canada journeyed together to Portugal in July and August of 2023 for an international gathering of Catholic youth.This World Youth Day (WYD) had over 1 million pilgrims in attendance, and many encountered Christ or their faith in a completely new way!
I often ask parents, what do children hate most. Someone answer, ‘advice’. Sure, they hate preaching and too many words. But I often add, it is ‘boredom’ that they detest most.
So, what is my prescription for a good participative group? Know the ingredients of the meeting but make allowances for mess. One shouldn’t be overly controlling. But look at the group, listen to the Holy Spirit in oneself, and allow things to progress in unpredictable ways.
